At the heart of this necklace is a large, authentic sling stone pendant—katupat—carved from alutong and originally shaped by ancient hands. This remarkable artifact was discovered on the island of Tinian, connecting the wearer to the enduring legacy of CHamoru ingenuity and craftsmanship. Artisan Juan Ogo has built a full necklace around this historic piece, using his signature latte stone-shaped side beads, also hand-carved from alutong. To complete the design, he added handcrafted side beads made from puka shell, accented with bands of blue coral to create a striking contrast. This piece seamlessly weaves together ancient heritage and modern artistry.
